Where to Watch Fireworks This Fourth of July in Boston & MetroWest

Nothing captures the spirit of summer in New England quite like a classic Fourth of July celebration. From waterfront fireworks in Boston to small-town parades and community festivals in MetroWest, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy Independence Day with friends and family.
Here’s your go-to guide for some of the best fireworks displays and holiday events happening across Greater Boston and the MetroWest area in 2025.
Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
July 4 | Hatch Shell, Charles River Esplanade, Boston
- Oval lawn opens at 12:00 PM
- Live concert begins at 7:00 PM
- Mugar Family Fireworks begin at approximately 9:40 PM (30-minute show)
- Headliners: LeAnn Rimes, Leslie Odom Jr., and Bell Biv DeVoe
- Free admission; gates are first-come, first-served
Pro tip: Arrive by noon to secure a good spot in the Oval or Island viewing zones. These areas are fenced and require wristbands. Expect nearby bridge closures around 9:00 PM.
Quincy Fireworks Celebration
July 3 | Quincy Center & Pageant Field
- Festival runs from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM along the waterfront
- Includes live music, family activities, a kids’ balloon show, drumline, and more
- Fireworks grand finale at dusk, part of Quincy’s 400th anniversary celebration
Norwood Independence Day Celebration
July 4 | Norwood Town Common & Washington Street
- 1:00 PM – Children’s Bicycle & Doll Carriage Parade (starts at First Congregational Church)
- 2:00 PM – Public reading of Frederick Douglass’s “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?”
- 2:30 PM – Carillon concert from Norwood Town Hall’s bell tower
- 5:00 PM – Firecracker 5K Road Race
- 5:30 PM – Main parade featuring antique fire trucks, military reenactors, and community groups
Nahatan and Washington Streets close at 4:00 PM—plan ahead for parking and arrival
Needham Fourth of July Celebration
July 3–4 | Memorial Park, Needham
- July 3 at 9:00 PM – Fireworks display
- July 4 – Parade, carnival, food booths, and live music throughout the day
